1988 batch IAS officer Manoj Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of UP. He took charge of his office at around 4 pm. He met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday evening. It was expected that Durga Shankar Mishra could get another extension in service. Contrary to speculation, Manoj Kumar Singh became the Chief Secretary of the state. Manoj Kumar Singh will remain both the Chief Secretary and the Additional Chief Secretary.

Manoj Kumar Singh has been appointed Chief Secretary by superseding Arun Singhal of 1987 batch, Leena Nandan of the same batch and Rajneesh Dubey of 1988 batch. Arun Singhal and Leena Nandan are on central appointment, while Rajneesh Dubey is the Chairman of the Revenue Board.

Counted among Yogi’s trusted officers

Manoj Kumar Singh is a 1988 batch IAS officer. He is considered to be very trustworthy of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This is the reason why he was handling important responsibilities like Agriculture Production Commissioner and Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner for a long time. Earlier, Manoj Kumar Singh has been the District Magistrate of Lalitpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Pilibhit and Moradabad. He also held the important responsibility of Village Development Commissioner. He has also been the Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad. He also performed the responsibility of Additional Chief Secretary of important departments like Rural Engineering Department, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj. He has also been the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of India.

Many officers had claimed

In case Durga Shankar did not get extension of service, the claims of many officers of 1987, 1988 and 1989 batch of UP cadre had increased. The first name in this was of Agriculture Production Commissioner and IIDC Manoj Kumar Singh. He is a 1988 batch IAS officer and currently has the responsibility of many important departments. He has played an important role in implementing many government schemes. In such a situation, Manoj Kumar Singh was considered the strongest contender for this post in case of not getting extension of service. Apart from this, there was also talk of return of Arun Singhal, posted as Secretary in the Government of India, as Chief Secretary.

Radha S Chauhan is retiring today, Bhalla gets additional charge of DoPT

1988 batch IAS officer Radha S Chauhan will retire on Sunday. She is posted as Secretary in the Central Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) at the Centre. On Saturday, the additional charge of Secretary of DoPT was given to 1984 batch officer and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
